HI
A little about myself. I have been a type 2 diabetic for going on about 15 years now. After going from doctor to doctor for years I now have a good one that is part of a Diabetic center.
When I was first diagnosed I did not have the support or get the education that I needed to help me out. Now I know better but have been lucky and have not had any major complications so far.
Right now I am taking 5 shots a day. 2 of Levemir and 3 of Humalog at meal time. But sometimes life gets in the way and I do not take them like I should.
So that leads me to getting an insulin pump. After some research I have chose the Animas 2020.
It is the latest one from the company, two of the reasons that I choose that one is because its is waterproof and the color screen will make it easy to read.
I turned in the paper work for it and am now waiting for the pump. On August 18 I did receive my work book and have been going through learning what I can about what information to that is needed to help you program the pump. I also have purchased the book Pumping Insulin by John Walsh. This is highly recommend by several members of the Yahoo group Insulin Pump users. The group is a wonderful group of people that have many years of experience pumping.
My goal with this blog is to let others know what one may go through when using an insulin pump and also to help work through any feelings or issues that may arise in this process.

Hey Bob, Looks like you're off to a good start here! Glad to know you've got a good doctor keeping an eye on things, and I hope the pump works well for you. Sounds like you have some good resources in place to help you already, and you're becoming a resource yourself with this blog!
what's the address for the yahoo group for insulin pump users?
HI BOB, I AM A TYPE 11 DIABETIC MYSELF AND SO FAR USING ONLY THE PILL, BUT LIKE A LOT OF US WE WOULD DO BETTER IF WE MONITORED OURSELF AND WATCHED WHAT WE EAT, I APPLAUD YOUR ENDEVORS AND WISH THE BEST OF LUCK WITH THE PUMP Eve
